You Were Never Lovelier
Capsule by Dave Kehr
From the Chicago Reader

Fred Astaire's two films with Rita Hayworth are more than enough to make you forget Ginger Rogers--Hayworth packs a shimmy that would knock Ginger back to the flatlands. This 1942 release is an amiable chica-boom-boom musical, directed with honest anonymity by William A. Seiter. Astaire is stranded in Rio, where he walks into a plot that Rita's father, Adolphe Menjou, is hatching to cure her frigidity, fixing her up with an imaginary "unknown admirer." The rest, if not history, is adequate motivation for a few sleek numbers. Xavier Cugat stands in for Carmen Miranda. 97 min.
