Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison
Capsule by Dave Kehr
From the Chicago Reader

John Huston exploits but does not explore the rather creepy sexual tension between marine Robert Mitchum and nun Deborah Kerr, marooned together on a Japanese-occupied Pacific island during World War II. In the absence of a real subject, the film leans heavily on a broad strain of Irish humor--whiskey bottles versus rosary beads--that never even worked that well for John Ford and Leo McCarey. In Technicolor and CinemaScope; photographed by Oswald Morris (l957).
