Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
Capsule by Dave Kehr
From the Chicago Reader

John Sturges's 1957 film followed Shane and High Noon in the decade's lust for adult, A-budgeted westerns, yet the film has less authentic western feeling than the most routine Republic B of the 40s--it's a slick, empty spectacle, with antipathetic stars and a director with no basic sympathy for the myths he's treating. With Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp, Kirk Douglas as Doc Holliday, and Rhonda Fleming, Jo Van Fleet, John Ireland, Frank Faylen, Kenneth Tobey, and (look close) Dennis Hopper as one of the Clanton boys.
